Assistant City Manager

Assistant City Manager Laurie Sampson brings over 30 years of bookkeeping and accounting experience to the City of Banning. Her extensive background in accounting procedures coupled with her ability to oversee, analyze and prepare budgets have helped to prioritize and implement Citywide projects for community infrastructure improvements.  

Laurie began her career with the City of Banning in 2015 with the Department of Public Works. As community liaison she was instrumental in issuing Public Works and Engineering permits, tracking projects for reporting to external agencies and managing large-scale developer deposits. 

Laurie was promoted to the position of Executive Assistant to the City Manager in 2017 and was later promoted to the position of Assistant City Manager in 2022.

In her capacity as Assistant City Manager she continues to review and analyze Federal, State and County legislation for its impact on the City of Banning while working with legislators to influence legislation to maximize its local impact on Citywide initiatives.

While providing direct assistance and support to the City Manager, Laurie continues to serve in the capacity as a key liaison for a variety of boards and commissions to provide staff support to the City Manager’s office and City Council in order to implement both short-term and long-term goals and objectives.
